I'm generating objects with Kineme3D, and using the next (unpublished) version of ObjectKit to establish a structure of positions. I recently had a chance to look at Matthias Oostrik's method of converting the 2D texture to particles, and Apple's "Snow" OpenCL example in depth.

I looked at my "go-to" fluid simulation, and re-jiggered it to use some elements of those to generate particles from the textures I've generated. Advanced Cartoon Shader</title><summary type='text'>I'm making a port of a GLSL routine to QC - an "advanced cartoon shader"- available in my Box downloads; "Advanced Cartoon Shader.qtz"/It does a kind of color averaging that gives a mellow cartoonized look, and also, by virtue of a skew horizontal/vertical routine working alongside the color routine, has the side effect of giving a kind of edge emphasis as well. One of the most interesting aspects of Toneburst's work, has been his study of HLSL shaders, VVVV, and the porting of some great pieces to QC/GLSL. His GLSL and Core Image studies have been superb as well.
